Christmas: Holly Jolly Holiday Tag

Since my last post (and the fact that it is November), I have really wanted to do another Christmas themed post. After Halloween, I believe that it is acceptable to start thinking about Christmas (well I haven't exactly stuck to that rule this year). So, today I am doing another tag, the Holly Jolly Holiday Tag, to be exact. So lets do this:

1. Favourite Christmas Movie?
After watching it for the first time last night, Love Actually.

2.Are you on the Naughty or Nice list?
Probably Nice although, I have my moments.

3.Show us an embarrassing Christmas card photo!
In the UK, we don't have photos on them, they are just pictures of artwork or cute photos of cats and dogs in Santa hats.

4.Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Sadly, No. We only have around 3 days of snow a year where I live, and that usually comes in February.

5.Where do you usually spend your Holiday?
At home or at my Grandparents house in Devon. Not very exciting.

6.Play or sing your favourite Christmas song!
As you can probably tell by now this is a Youtube tag, but I can write the lyrics down for you:

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light,
From now on,
Our troubles will be out of sight.

If you couldn't tell, it was 'Have yourself a merry little Christmas', but I have so many I just picked one from my long list.

7.Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Only if I am with my Mums side of the family on Christmas Eve and my Dads side on Christmas Day.

8.Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Right now without any help:
-Rudolph
-Vixen
-Cupid
-Blitzen
-Donner
With help from my Hollister Christmas top which contains names of all Santa's reindeer:
-Dasher
-Dancer
-Prancer
-Vixen
-Comet
-Cupid
-Donner
-Blitzen
-Rudolph

9.What Holiday Tradition are you looking forward to most this year?
Is Vlogmas, a possible answer. But being serious, in the real world probably Advent calenders.

10.Is your Christmas Tree real or fake?
The 3ft tall, plastic, white one in my bedroom is clearly fake by my description. But as for our family one in the living room, we ALWAYS ( a lot of emphasis on the always) get a real. It isn't Christmas without the smell of the tree, and the pain of the needles stuck in your feet.

11.Hands down, what's your all-time favourite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?
Food, has to Turkey. But sweet treat is a hard decision, a very hard decision. Either Mince Pies or Candy Canes. Even though you can get them at any other time of year, it has to be candy canes.

12.Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I don't enjoy the stress of figuring out what to get the person but once I know, I LOVE it. So, receiving gifts ( I feel like a REALLY HORRIBLE PERSON :-( )

13.Show us your tackiest Christmas attire!
I truly don't have anything extremely tacky. But I love my red, polka dot, Rudolph socks.

14.What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
NEW YORK! Don't get me wrong, I love London at Christmas, but New York seems magical (Cheesy, I know).

15.Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?
No, not really.

16.Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
Neither, but I am getting better.

17.Most memorable holiday moment?
Don't really have one, I have a very sad life.

18.What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I found out at the same time as I found out about the tooth fairy. I was clever and stayed up to catch my parents in the act of hiding money under my pillow. I was pretending to be asleep and scared them while they crept out of my bedroom. Proud moment.

19.Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Yes. No.

20.What makes the holidays special for you?
Everything!!!!!

Hope you enjoyed this and try it yourself.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Back to School: Update

Hello there! I suppose I have to update you, well I haven't done another Back to School post in ages, and it has already been a week into September without posting. Just so you know I do have an excuse which is because I have been getting ready to actually go back to school. The last time I posted was just before I went to buy a school bag and since then  have been sorting out stuff to put in my bag and locker. I went back to school on Wednesday and my special locker shelves just fit and my locker looks much nicer than last year now. I am planning to do a collective haul from the summer but sadly I haven't even started on that one. I also have an idea for another series because it makes me feel on top of things if I have set out series (Clue: It has something to do with my favourite TV Show, GLEE!). So if you want another series be sure to comment below. I think that is all.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Back To School: Back To School Tag

First of all, these questions are from a Youtube Tag, instead of an actual blog tag, so it may be hard to answer some of the questions. Also, the schooling system is different in the UK, so again it may be hard. I don't feel the need for a long intro so, here goes:

1. Do you like school?
No, but I understand that I need to go if I want to have a good career when I am older (which has paid off since I have 100% Attendance).

2. What are you excited and/or nervous for this year?
Seeing my friends again, being higher in the school. But I am nervous because it will be harder work this year because of Exams.

3. What Subjects are you taking?
Drama, Art, English, Design Technology, Textiles, Food Tech, Religious Education, History, Geography, Personal Studies, Physical Education, Music, French, Information Communication Technology, Science and Maths. I am from the UK.

4. What's your Favourite Subject?
Art, I love the creative subjects most. But Art is the best.

5. What's your least Favourite Subject?
French, even though I have French family, I HATE it.

6. What's your schedule like?
1st period, 2nd period, Break, 3rd period, Lunch, 4th period, 5th period. Our lessons are an hour each.

7. Do you do Extra Curricular Activities?

Back To School: Autumn 2013 Fashion and Beauty Trends

Yay! A new season is arriving which is an excuse for new Clothes and Beauty Products to arrive to your collection. While reading a couple teens magazines (so this may be looks that aren't for the more mature, but you can always take tips), I gathered a couple of old and new trends for the coming season.

The one trend I spotted throughout the magazines is of course, Denim! Whether it is a pair of Statement Jeans or a Denim Shirt paired with some cute Tan Accessories, Denim is going to be a very popular fabric featured all through Autumn. Also with Jeans being common staple pieces in our wardrobes, you may not need to buy anything Denim. As I mentioned earlier, Denim and Tan Accessories, is a good option for this season. Last year, Tan was quite popular in Autumn outfits and it is back again this year, but mostly with denim. Because it is a neutral colour it ties in well with the blues of Denim but still allows the colours to pop. Meaning that your Denim pieces stand out. I also touched on Statement Jeans. From just Bright Colours to Crazy Patterns, they are the main piece of the outfit, so as you should know by now, keep the other items SIMPLE! You don't want to look like all the acts from the circus rolled into one. Clue is in the name: STATEMENT Jeans. So let them shine like they are supposed to.

Classic Prints like Tartan and Houndstooth are back! As a statement piece or if you are brave/clever you can use both in the same outfit, but you have to be careful. The trick is to have hints of them in either the pockets in some jeans (which will also tick the box for the Denim), or in a scarf. So that they aren't covering your whole body. Which leads us to Monochrome. It hasn't really left us since, God knows when. But for this colour combination, stripes are the way to go, another classic print. It is also easy to find just a Black and White Striped Top for barely nothing. or you could go for something funky Vertical Striped Leggings/Trousers/Jeans. But if the Black leaves Monochrome you get left with: White, or Cream. Another Colour to look out for this season. Just a simple White Jumper or Hoodie will do and you will look on trend.
Last but not least, Leopard. No matter how small the item this will be a statement piece so wear if you dare. But this is a very chic patten which will make you stand out from the crowd.

For Beauty this season, you can inspire your Makeup Looks with... Fire! I am not saying that you have to paint flames on your face. But you can rock the famous Red Lip or use Warmer Colours in the Crease for your Eyes. For Nails, Geometric Patterns a spot on. The most simplistic way is to grab a bunch of colours, which include: A Grey, A Black and Five other colours (which can't be dark ones!). Then for each nail paint the whole nail in the Grey, then take another colour other than Black and paint that over half of each nail (best to use different ways like Chevron, Stripes, Triangles to mix it up, and also use the same colour for each nail type say Pink for both the Index etc.). Then take your Black and paint that over either half of both of them or half of just one. And there you have your stylish Geometric Nails.

Hope you have a fashionable back to school time! Feel free to ask any questions!

Back To School: Locker Organisation

Here we go again! Another year of the pain of Exams, Lessons and Teachers. Yes, I am talking about school. Whether you have started or are going to, the next couple of posts are to help you get through the year ahead. The reason this won't be just one post is because there are so many tips and tricks that use throughout the school day, it just wouldn't flow as easily as it would as a normal post. So consider this a Back to School series. For me, despite days of planning my book cover designs and shopping for school supplies, as soon as I get back in the classroom, it isn't how I imagined it (maybe me watching too much Glee). So for this 'Series' it may end up as more like a diary until the first week to tell you how I am feeling and how my new methods work.

Today, I will be talking about the joys and messiness of lockers. Sadly, in the UK we don't have the same types of things that you can buy in the States for lockers here. So most of it is DIY. In fact the inspiration for this post was that right before now, I was making my own shelf using a cardboard box, scissors and duct tape (colour alterations may be made at a later date). If you want to know, in a nutshell, I turned the box upside down, cut out one of the sides and covered it in duct tape, but the left over cardboard piece was stuck to the top of the shelf for sturdiness.

Because of my PE kit, last year my locker stank, so I bought a car air freshener and it did the trick. My locker has ventilation holes at the top so I hung it through them, but you could just place it at the bottom of your locker.

A survival kit, is a must, it doesn't have to be in your locker too, you could have a pouch in your bag. But since this is your locker we are talking about and you will probably have alot of stuff you may need a box to go in your locker. So here is what I would advise you to put in your survival kit:
-Lipbalm
-Powder
-Hair Bands
-Tampons/Pads
-A Snack
-Bobbypins
-Clear Nail Polish
-Stuff for Contacts (If you wear them)
-Deoderant
-A Hairbrush
-Hand Sanitiser
-Mints
-Hand Cream/Body Cream
-A Plaster (Or Band Aids if you are from the States)
-Dry Shampoo
-Face Wipes

I hope this guide helps. Feel free to ask questions and give your locker advice down below.

Face Washing Facts and Advice

You may be thinking 'I know how to wash my face, I rinse, lather and rinse. Easy!' But today, when stocking up on cleansing products, I was thinking that I was never actually given advice on how to wash my face. So I got home and researched and I found some pretty interesting stuff.

First of all the maximum amount of times that you should wash your face is twice (commonly in the morning and evening). In fact once is probably just enough. Oily or Acne-prone skin maybe should but sensitive or dry skin would be good with just once as it irritates and dries out the skin.

Also when you do wash your face (in the evening), it should be a two step process. Either use a face wash/cleanser or make-up remover/make-up removing face wipes and face wash/cleanser. The first time may not remove all of your make-up and it will only remove make-up on the first time, it won't cleanse your face, it will do that on the second time. Also to follow up on the choice of products, try not to use make-up wipes, the proper manual product, rinsing business will clear your skin much better as it will get in your pores more.

Exfoliating, really it is a waste of time. Personally, I only exfoliate when my skin is really playing up. Don't exfoliate everyday, as like anything that is abrasive, it isn't good to continuosly rub off your skin. If you do exfoliate daily, by now you are probably rubbing off good skin cells which can make your skin fragile and weak. It is probably best to use an exfoliating face wash or a cleanser with ingredients such as salicylic acid.
Your skin shouldn't break out.

DO NOT WASH YOUR FACE WITH NORMAL SOAP, WHATEVER YOU DO. Unless it is for the face, it is too harsh for the skin on your face.

Lastly, (you should already do this) moisturize after you remove make-up or wash your face. Especially at night as since that is when your skin repairs itself and soaks up the good stuff. Also why you should always wash your face at night since it is sooooooo bad to sleep with make-up on, but you should already know that.

Feel free to comment below.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake

You may know about the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, many Beauty Bloggers and Beauty Vloggers rave about these. I got my first one a few weeks ago and I wanted to say what I about it.

I got the colour Strawberry Shortcake 080. It is a nice rosy pink that has a slight hint of glitter, but it is very natural. It is moisturising and has a medium opacity (not total opacity like a lipstick, but it isn't clear like a lip balm).

It lasts not very long if you just put a quick slick on like I do, without a lipliner underneath or a lipgloss on top. The colour looks quite unusual for a lipliner but from looking at
colours online, MAC In Synch looks closest. For lipgloss sometimes I wear a mini 17 colour but I am not sure if they sell it fullsize, it came in a gift set. But my friend has a very similar colour, MAC Right Image (I know another MAC product but you can't deny that they are good). Using a lipliner under the product creates a good base for the product to stick on, it keeps it in place. And a lipgloss will create a sheer shine and also will come off before the lipstick or lip butter. But sometimes these distract you from the main product and can also get very irritating with several layers of lip product on at once.

Now I  have been dreading this subject since I just can't describe this
packaging well. The practical side is that it has the name on the bottom, a clear top so that you you can see the product and also the lip is in the same colour category as the product so if you want a brighter colour you don't end up going through the nudes. For looks, its ok as it has the new quilt pattern that Revlon now uses and also the sheer colour makes sure that you know you are looking at the Revlon lip butters and not the Revlon lipsticks. But with it being sheer you can see the metal handle thing (still have no idea what its called so can you tell me in the
comments) which is less aesthetically pleasing as say the Chanel or MAC lipsticks (MAC is coming up a lot in this post).

Even though they are supposed to be moisturising I still like to put on a lip balm beforehand. They do moisturise and are more confortable to have on your lips than a lipstick but they still aren't as moisturising as a lipbalm. And I am not sure if this is even a good thing. If they were as moisturising it might not be as matte or as opaque as they are now.

No matter what, I love this product and I wear it pretty much every
day of  every weekend and in the holidays. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Falsies vs. Rocket - Maybelline Mascara Wars

So you've heard of how amazing The Rocket and The Falsies mascaras by Maybelline are, but which one is better. Allthatglitters21 on Youtube posted a video of this in her Makeup MAYhem series that she did with Missglamorazzi (The video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvnx_sL4uUM&list=UUuaQ-5iDHAuUHdxdBDrrjPQ&index=3) You may want to watch the video before this as I will be commenting on things in that video at times, but you won't have to. Like the video I have them both in the waterproof formula.

The claims for The Rocket are; that it has an exclusive Jet Glide brush with Flexi-fine bristles loads on big bang volume so fast, there is no time for clumps! The smooth formula keeps lashes looking sleek and even. And for The Falsies; False lash glam in a tube, Instantly! The first spoon brush. Lashes appear up to 3x more visible, corner-to-corner, no gaps. These are hard claims to beat.
On the right are two pictures of the tubes, The Rocket on the left and The Falsies on the right. From the top picture you can see that The Rocket holds more product, for the same price. 0.6 ml to be exact. Yes I know that 0.6 ml isn't much, but it all adds up.

Wands! They come down to personal preference so I will just describe them instead of rate them. On the right the one above is The Falsies and the one below it is The Rocket. First of all, one has more bristly brushes which give a less spiky look but sometimes end up producing more clumps ( The Falsies don't say 'Clump Free' but The Rocket does). Also The Rocket has a straight brush but

The Falsies has a 'Spoon Brush', not so sure whether it is the first but one of the few. The Rocket is actually, like it says, less likely to get caught and glide effortlessly, but who actually has a problem with that. In the tube, the excess of The Rocket gets scraped off more, but the brush doesn't go as deep into the lashes.
I applied both mascaras on each eye but unfortunately do not have any pics. I believe that The Rocket makes longer lashes but only by the tiniest amount and it created spikier less natural looking lashes, which is down to preference. Volume wise, The Falsies is better since it glues the
lashes more together. In the video Elle (Allthatglitters21) claims that The Rocket is drier, this is true but for some people it is only really about the outcome.
Clumps. I didn't really have a problem with clumps this time, but in the past The Falsies has clumped a little bit. Luckily, The Rocket has kept to its claims and created finer non-clumpy lashes.
Lastly is gaps. I don't believe that this is a huge issue but seeing as it is part of the claims in The Falsies, I think that I should touch on it. Really, I think that it is better with The Rocket but probably down to the fact
that I did a stroke on the main area and a stroke on the inner area. The Falsies left a tiny gap due to the brush being curved, you feel as if you won't need another stroke on the inner lashes.

From my point of view, The Rocket is better. But that is up to what I look for in a mascara, I don't mind as much if they look less natural and spiky. I hope that this helps make up your mind from the two. Feel free to ask me any questions.
